Stephanie Sanders is a veteran music educator and the Performing Arts Department Chair, director of bands, and teaches music technology at Berwick Academy in South Berwick, Maine.
She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Education from Wayne State College, Nebraska, and a Master of Science in Music Technology from IUPUI, Indianapolis. As a classically trained flutist, she has performed for over 40 years in a variety of settings, including performances on world, ethnic and electronic instruments.
Stephanie believes that technology is a vital tool that can enrich the music curriculum both in the music classroom and performance ensembles. She has been teaching music using technology since the early 1980s with a single Apple IIe computer and developing the music technology curriculum at Berwick Academy.
She is the 2017 TI:ME (Music Institute for Music Educators) Mike Kovins Teacher of the Year, and the 2008 Dorothy Green Teacher of the Year at Berwick Academy. She has presented sessions at The International Music Technology Conference in Indianapolis, ISTE Webinar Series, AISNE and the TI:ME/TMEA National conference. She is a member of the Maine Music Educators Association (MMEA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Technology Institute for Music Educators (TI:ME) and a charter member of Mu Tau Psi the Professional Society for Music Technology.
